Where were you born (city)?
Toronto, Ontario
Best Memory About Childhood?
I had lots of hills and a giant tree with long vines in my backyard as a kid. My friends and I used to race our bikes down the hills and play “Tarzan” swinging from the vines. We would run as fast as we could and jump onto the vines and swing for as long as possible before either the vine broke or we lost our grip. Good times!
Best friend in grade school?
It would be tough to name just one. I can narrow it down to three: Michelle B aka Spice Girls dance choreographer extraordinaire, Alexandra S., who wore Adidas classic shell toes under her fancy grade eight graduation dress, and Diane R who smelled everything before eating it.
Favourite band in the 1970’s, 1980’s, 90’s, 2000’s?
1970’s: Bob Marley and the Whalers…yah mon!
1980’s: Sade…my soldier of love.
1990’s: Spice Girls & N’SYNC…I had a serious crush on JT!
2000’s: Chris Stapleton…he has an incredibly, soulful sound…his live performance will give you goosebumps!
Favourite/Greatest movie of all time?
The Silence of the Lambs – Who doesn’t love a good psycho-thriller?!
Best vacation ever?
Costa Rica…Not only is its physical geography stunning, but the people were so friendly and open it blew me away. The best part though? The little spider monkey that hopped onto my shoulder while on a rainforest tour.
Favourite pastime/hobby?
I love to cook and bake! I can make a mean blueberry scone.
Favourite Restaurant?
Grazie – The food is incredible, it has a casual/laid back vibe, great service and is always buzzing. I recommend the Baked Goat Cheese Salad.
Favourite Food and Why?
Potato and cheese pierogis, lightly sautéed with onions and full fat sour cream. If you’re going to have it, you might as well have the good stuff right?
Scariest thing that ever happened to you?
I was driving on a winding road in Jamaica and hit a slick patch. My car spun out and hopped the median. I ended up on the wrong side of the road facing oncoming traffic. I was shaking!
Are you superstitious?
I wouldn’t say I’m overly superstitious now, but when I was a kid I would hop over cracks so that I didn’t break my mother’s back!
Favourite song?
Van Morrison – Brown Eyed Girl
I remember many a times sitting in the passenger’s seat of my mom’s 1980’s dark blue Jeep Grand Cherokee, peanut butter interior, both of us belting out the lyrics to Brown Eyed Girl, while my mom pointed at me as we sang.
Next place you want to visit and why?
Scotland. My mom’s background is Scottish and I would love to experience the culture first hand. Not so keen to try any haggis though!
The principles you live by?
Life is too short for regret. Roll with the punches, learn from experience, and continue to grow.
Be kind always.
We are our choices.
Be open-minded and never judge. Everyone has a story.
What you want to be remembered for?
When I have a family of my own, I want to be remembered for being a supportive, loving, kind, and strong mother that raised kind and compassionate children. Family is everything and our children are our greatest legacy.
Favourite Pet?
I have had cats all my life and absolutely adore(d) every one of them. They are a part of the family! They each have their own unique personalities and are super loving. I could never choose!
